AirVenture 2023: Dynon Shows The D30 Backup EFIS

1

Dynon has gained some traction with its HDX line of certified EFIS products and at AirVenture 2023, it showed off a new addition to the line, the D30 backup EFIS. The D10A has, for years, been popular among homebuilders and owners of certified aircraft. The D30 builds on that success with a larger display and all the features required of a backup EFIS. KITPLANES Editor-in-Chief Marc Cook shot this video at AirVenture for AVweb.

  1. I just completed the installation of the Skyview HDX with the D10A in a Cessna C182. There have been some comments that the D30 lacks some features of the D10A, but on the whole, with a back of panel length of 3.35″ compared to the 9.5″ of the D10A should make panel layout and design a lot easier and more flexible. I don’t plan to upgrade, as both should serve the backup purpose, and after much thought and a few changes in my panel layout, I was able to get the D10A to fit but the D30 would have fit where I originally wanted to put it with no fuss or bother.
